The table below gives a summary of the entry requirements for straight Economics courses in most UK universities, together with an indication of the likely grade offers in each case (where points offers are indicated, an A at A level is 120, a B is 100, a C is 80 and so on, with an AS that has not been taken on to A2 level worth half these scores).

Each institution offers a range of other courses apart from just Economics (Economics and Politics, Business Economics and so on), and the entry requirements for these courses may be a little easier. Generally they will require a lower level of Maths ability. These can all be viewed at ucas using the course search tool and looking for "economics".

The Times and Guardian university rankings are subject specific, but are of course subjective - they have their own priorities and opinions, with the Times more narrowly based around teaching and research ratings (top 20 only), and the Guardian including a broader range of factors such as spending, value added and job prospects. Their methodology plus the full table can be found at the Guardian and Times websites. I have also put a link to each university's subject page - just click on the name of the university.
